Marco is an ambitious young tailor in 14th century Florence. He finds work in the home of a stuffy, well-to-do merchant who’s been elected to the city council. Marco is determined that this job will lead to more prestigious work. But he risks his dreams when Amina, the beautiful household slave, brings a covert request from the merchant’s daughter to make a sumptuous, outrageous, lawbreaking dress.
In Renaissance Florence, clothes were a symbol of your occupation and your status. Hundreds of rules dictated what citizens – especially women – could wear.
This enchanting romantic tale is about one such fashion crime.
